In 2013, the Foundation established The Black Heart Scholarship Programme. The Programme defines the formal development of some of the Foundation’s previous endeavors. The Scholarship Programme awards several yearly bursaries to eligible candidates to advance their educational dreams and life aspirations.

Black Heart Foundation Scholarship Amount

The Black Heart Foundation Scholarship Programme’s primary purpose is to provide gap funding. Nevertheless, the amount of funding granted is assessed individually. Applications are checked on a holistic basis taking into account educational activity, finances, social circumstances, and personal purposes for future outcomes. Do well to apply for what you need.

Black Heart Foundation Scholarship Deadline and Opening Date

Applications are available twice every year.

Cohort 1: Applications will be received between 1st March and 21st August. Applicants will be notified of the outcome by 30th September.

Cohort 2: Applications will be received between 22nd August and 31st October. Applicants will be notified of the outcome by the 31st of December.

They will not be accepting applications between 1st November to 28th February. If you apply during this period it will be counted as the applications to be checked as part of cohort 1.

How To Apply for The Black Heart Foundation Scholarship 2026

STEP 1: To apply for the Black Heart Foundation Scholarship, please present a completed application form, budget sheet, and an individual summary of no more than 1200 words delivering an overview of the educational activity for which you seek a scholarship and listing how the scholarship would align with the aims of Foundation.

STEP 2: Your budget sheet should show a clear case of financial need including any current grants, bursaries, loans, scholarships, family support, and work that delivers revenue.

They do not quote a ‘success rate’ as all applications are considered on individual merit and the Foundation does not limit the number of awards to be given out in a year. They receive a high volume of applications and the scholarships are positively competitive and not guaranteed, so where likely, you should always be seeking alternative sources of grants.

I applied and was unsuccessful, Can I reapply?

Yes, the Black Heart Scholarship Foundation allows applicants to reapply a year from the date of their initial application.
